The project aims to provide sustainable water resources, through drilling and equipping of 72 deep boreholes in all over Somalia (36 in south central Somalia, 18 in Puntland and 18 in Somaliland and also to construct 35 schools) for the targeted communities to have clean safe water and to improve sustainable community water usages at the household level, schools, public places and livelihoods (irrigation and livestock). Each borehole should be provided by 40m3 elevated tank, one storeroom, 3 animal troughs and Kiosks. Each will be provided by solar energy system and standby generator and also construction of school at eac borehole site .
My role is to review and approve the social, communal, hydrogeological, geophysical, design of ancillaries, solar specifications and other technical studies, also the supervision of the drillings, constructions and installation of the solar. Also:-
1- Review and certifies the final technical report for each borehole and its ancillaries and schools constuction certificates.
2- Review and certifies the Contractor’s requests for payment.
3- Participate and assist in the knowledge transfer and capacity building for Client staff through an institutional capacity development plan.
4- Preparation of periodical progress reports, completion reports for each well and for the whole project at its completion.
5- Preparation of operation and maintenance manuals.
The work was done by two contractors:
1- A Turkush Company (IHH) which did 36 wells in South Central Somalia.
2- Islamic Relief World wide of London (IRW) Which did 36 wells (18 wells in Puntland and 18 wells in Somaliland).
In addition to the above I am the project manager for the supervising the drilling of 25 wells in River Nile state.
